And then when I left her in my new apartment with wall to wall boxes for a few hours… when I came back the boxes were gone and the impact was enormous. I was all smiles. Wow. Autumn Rose is a real find. I’m in my late 50s and became a widower 2 years ago. I hired Autumn to help my boss and his wife move out of their 4,000 SQ. Ft. home into two small 1,000 SQ. FT. condos. The move involved lots of donated furniture, and the separation of the stuff they wanted to keep into two separate “piles” -one for their Phoenix condo, and one for their Portland condo. So lots of moving parts. They also needed to move FAST..as in within a week. Autumn was the perfect person for the job. She made a plan for the donated items and trash, packed the whole house while keeping everything separated by its eventual destination and just kept the whole process humming along. She figured out the best local place to have the donated furniture taken to, and was even able to arrange to have those items picked up for the homeowners. Autumn is the third professional organizer I’ve hired and she’s the only one who leaves me with a reorganized house/garage/basement that doesn’t fall back into disarray once she’s gone because things have a place that makes sense so it’s easy to keep it up. I’ve tried hiring people who charge less off of taskrabbit and craigslist but I end up having to manage them, direct them, and they bring very little skill beyond doing what I tell them to do. Great! Autumn was on point and super in thinking through my more challenging systems organization. I didn’t have much to purge and on the surface the house didn’t look crazy, but with two kids and two adults in a smaller living space it still felt like we didn’t have concrete systems in place to make it easier to be in the house and to clean up (all the time). I thought I only wanted her to help me assess the bedrooms and closets and how to be more functional living small, but she ended up integrating the whole house and redoing our storage and giving me lots of tips through our session on what to keep in mind for look, feel and flow.
